Assemblyman Dean Murray (R,C,I- East Patchogue) criticized yesterday’s vote by the New York State Board of Regents to allow illegal immigrants in New York to apply professional licenses.
“This is simply another instance of entrenched officials controlled by a political agenda that value illegal immigrants over the legal, hard-working taxpayers of our state,” said Murray. “Today’s vote and other initiatives like the Dream Act clearly show where the interests of these bureaucrats are, and it is not with the people of New York.”
The State Education Department currently issues more than 50 different professional licenses in a multitude of fields.
“It is disappointing that the board proceeded with this decision in such a regulatory fashion, and is simply another example of government overreaching,” Murray said. “This type of unilateral decision should not be made behind closed doors, but with the input of the people of New York.”
